Health Care professionals from across Texas attend a 2-Hour presentation on behaviors associated with Alzheimer's disease and therapeutic approaches used to address these issues instead of medications. Presented by Jennifer Scott, VP of Operations

CARES is a collaboration between faith based churches that provide social respite care for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. Trained volunteers provide social stimulation and supervision. The staff volunteers of the West Lake Hills Presbyterian respite program attended a 2-Hour training about the different dementia diagnoses, such as Lewy Body Dementia, Picks Disease, Vascular Dementia, and Alzheimer's Disease. Hospital Case Managers from various Austin Hospitals attended a 1-hour presentation on the different dementia diagnoses and how the person with the disease may have greater difficulties in a hospital situation. Appropriate adaptions and interventions were discussed. Presented by Jennifer Scott, VP of Operations

Jennifer Scott teaches first year Pharmacy Students about Alzheimer's and Related dementias in relation to behaivors and and medication management. UT Pharmacy School has an award winning learning program called Care And Respect for the Elderly (CARE) Program where 1st year students are paired with seniors who reside in Assisted Livings to improve the quality of life of elderly patients, and learn more about the elderly in order to provide pharmecuetical care to this population in the future. The students participate for the entire year and are frequent visitors at the Arveda community.
