Carol Hering - Executive Director, Buda residence

After learning that a family member was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and not knowing anything about it, Ms. Hering began a search to educate herself about the disease.  In the late 1980s, information was not as readily available for those with Alzheimer’s and their families. While employed with The Brown Schools, a company with psychiatric and brain injury treatment programs, she learned of the many complications that can occur within our brains.   Yet the information about Alzheimer’s and its effects on the brain were not widely publicized, and specific treatment programs were hard to find.

As the Admissions and Marketing Director for a nursing home, Ms. Hering learned about the specifics of Alzheimer’s and about treatment programs and options for those with a dementia diagnosis.  In 1999, she was a part of the team that opened a secure assisted living program specifically for Alzheimer’s.  During those seven years, her knowledge of, and passion for, residents with dementias and their families grew.

Over the past ten years she has worked with families to help them understand the complex diagnosis of dementia.  Ms. Hering considers it a privilege to care for a family’s loved one in a warm and loving setting that is specifically designed for them.  Helping families have the best experiences with their loved one is her goal.  As a native Austinite and a graduate of the University of Texas, she looks forward to working with families and helping them understand the complex diagnosis of a loved one with dementia.  Phone (Office) 512-295-5600 E-Mail cmhering@arvedacare.com
